The next place we were to put our head down was called “Serenity Lodge”. Lovely setting next to a reservoir we were shown to lovely room overlooking the water. The drive to this hotel was through forest where we kept our eyes open for wild life. No luck again re the Tiger.
We set off the next day to visit a tea factory. Personnel tour in the “Harrison” factory. Fascinating watching machines working 24/7 and were the original machines from over 100yrs old. Not one bit of the tea “leaf” was wasted as spillages being swept up and put back in machines. Must admit made me think of what is in the sweepings!!!! 😀 Very good tour.
Back to hotel to have lunch and a restful afternoon. Here we go again as we waited over an hr for a room service sandwich which the restaurant said they could not do. A trip to reception had to be made to get an order filled!!!
Next morning Keith and I walked to “Banasurasagar “ dam. This is the second largest earth dam in Asia. Little bus to the top then a great walk along the wall. Quite impressive with views across the valley. Lots of beware of snake signs on the rocks at the side. 🤔.
The usual tat stalls lined the entrance where we found our driver. Off we went to find lunch somewhere and again our timing was good as we found a church festival parade. A great long line of attendees walking from the church to we don’t know where. Drums, trumpets, crosses, patterned umbrellas, nuns, priest, men, women and children colourfully dressed. Prob about 2-300 people. Quite a sight.
Lunch out which was a Tali knowing that food in the hotel might be an if……
How right we were. Another disappointment re management and restaurant training.
We also had a porter knock on our door us asking if we were going out, where and what time will be checking out tomorrow. 😡. Ummmmm
The stay here was good re adventures but hotel let the side down.
Not to far to travel to our next adventure. Jungle Retreat Wayanad. What a fantastic place. Next blog is a good one. 😀🤔
