Skipping a bit of our journey must tell you all the happenings the last few days.
Having changed our booking arrangement slightly we and ended up heading to a place called Elephant Valley near Kodaikanal.
What a twisting and turning raid up a mountain this was. Quite a narrow main road with stunning scenery. Thinking we were getting there sat nav sent us down a right turn. Steep and not a lot of surface we ploughed on. Eventually came to a little village where our place if stay was.
Our room, one of four in a wooden lodge, was a 5 min walk down a stone track. Lovely views. Now the happening here started with us going back to the restaurant for dinner and having to pass some aggressive geese. Had to call for help. These culprits proved a nightmare with us giving in each time and getting help.
Off back to our room to find the sound proofing between us and the next room non existent. We could hear every whisper etc !!!!  There was a family of two adults and two children. Luckily they were a fairly quiet group but not good. Keith and I were whispering over the snoring and other noises. The stone wall stopped about a ft from the ceiling and then a gap.
Luckily no one in the next room the following night BUT we weren’t let off that easily. In the flat above were a French couple (noise good above okay) and the lady was a singer of sorts. We settled down for a peaceful couple hrs on our patio and this dear lady started her singing practise!!! After an hr of what can only can be described of painfull!!! noise I asked her to stop. She asked if she was disturbing us YES YOU ARE. 😡
The river area was a lovely place to spend the next day walking and resting. With the geese was a white duck and unbelievable this duck was afraid of WATER. 🤔.
Great chef in this place but poor maintenance due to bad management. Such a shame as it was in a fab spot and the staff were lovely.
Left Elephant Valley and headed to Kodaicanal. What a super place. They ban all sorts of plastics etc. They keep the streets and side areas clean. They have a lovely lake which we walked around in 2hr and you will never guess they had a fantastic cheese shop selling cheddar cheese Indian style. Great young guy had his own factory employing 40 people. He even sold Blue cheese. So of course we had to buy some. Yummy only prob we had was that we didn’t have a fridge so had to eat most of it a day later. SHAME. 😀😉. Really good shop.

We then travelled on to a place we stay in last yr called “Lakeside”. A piece of heaven.
Kennedy made us most welcome and turns out the staff were all going off to a wedding and he had only booked us in because he knew us. Kennedy himself was also off to his nephews wedding so leaving us with a couple of staff who had drawn the short straw and stayed to look after us. Still a beautiful relaxing place. So pleased we came back if only for 24hrs.
